Some people take St. John’s
wort to relieve the symptoms
of depression. However, the
Food and Drug Administration
issued a Public Health Advisory
in 2000 about St. John’s wort,
saying it interfered with prescribed
medications for various
conditions—among others,
heart disease, depression and
certain cancers. Any herbal
supplement can interact with
medications and should be
taken only after consultation
with your doctor.
