BlueMedicare Rx vs. BlueSaver: Which card should I use?
If you have Medicare Part D coverage either through our BlueMedicare HMO, BlueMedicare PPO or one of our stand-alone BlueMedicare Rx plans, you get extra savings with our BlueSaverSM card, which is offered at no additional cost to you. The BlueSaver card entitles you to retail discounts on prescription drugs.

Use your Part D BlueMedicare Rx card when you’re purchasing a prescription drug that is included on the BlueMedicare Rx plan formulary or approved drug list. You also should use your BlueMedicare Rx card during the coverage gap period (after your annual prescription drug expenses exceed $2,400 and before they reach $5,451.25). That ensures your total out-of-pocket expenses will be correctly calculated.

Use your BlueSaver card only when a prescribed drug is excluded from coverage under the Part D formulary or approved drug list. The pharmacist will calculate all the available discounts then offer you the best price possible on your prescription—up to a 30 percent discount!
