Dean Health Plan Update

Get the Information You Need
From the Health Resource Center

Photo of man putting on glassesHave you ever found out that you have a certain condition and wondered what to do next? It happens to a lot of us.

Sure, your doctor explained the condition and gave you a few directions on what you should do to manage it. But you were so surprised, scared or shocked that you were unable to ask any more questions during the visit. Then, all of a sudden, you are at home and the questions start to come. What else should you know about this condition? Are there behavior changes you could make to reduce your symptoms? Is the treatment plan your doctor recommended really the best one for you?

How do you find the answers and information you need? You can do a Web search. But one search may turn up hundreds of Web sites. And how do you know which Web sites provide credible information that you can rely on? The Health Resource Center can help.

The Health Resource Center is a complimentary service offered by Dean Health System and St. Marys Hospital to help you and your family get the information you need to manage your health. A health educator can help you search for health information or can do the search for you and direct you to the most informative, credible Web sites related to the topic you researched. You may also receive books, guides, pamphlets or magazine articles with information on your health topic. Our health educator can also provide information about local health-related programs, such as medical research studies and support groups. You can do all this just by contacting the Health Resource Center. It is easy to do, and there are several ways that you can do it:

  • Visit the center. A health educator is available between
8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Health
Resource Center is at the Dean West Clinic, 752 N. High
Point Road, Madison, on the lower level.
  • Call the center at 608-824-4413.
  • Fax your request to 608-824-4411.
  • E-mail your request to dhrc@deancare.com.

The next time you or a family member needs reliable information on anything from diabetes to prostate cancer, the Health Resource Center can help you find the information you need.
