Back pain affects four out of five Americans at some point in their lives. Yet most back
pain, when not caused by a medical condition, clears up spontaneously, with or without treatment.
The lower back is the most common site for back pain. Everyday activities,
such as picking up a child, taking out the trash—even applying the brake in your car—
can cause back pain.
In a recent study, people who stayed in bed with back pain didn’t recover as quickly as people who resumed activity right away. The longer people stayed in bed, the longer it took them to feel better.
You can help prevent back pain by exercising, maintaining proper posture, and
staying at a healthy weight. Click here for more information on how to protect your back.
