Dean Health Plan provides service to our traveling members through Private Healthcare Systems (PHCS), a national leader in preferred provider networks. You can use the PHCS national provider network for urgent or emergency services while traveling outside of Wisconsin. Whether you need urgent or emergency care or hospital services when outside of Wisconsin, this service is valuable for you in these ways:
- Lower fees for you. You will not be charged a maximum allowable fee difference between what a non-plan provider charges and what Dean Health Plan allows for payment. You will still be required to pay any applicable copayments, coinsurance or deductible amounts.
- Maintaining quality of care. Dean Health Plan can manage the quality of care and cost when services are obtained from a PHCS provider while outside of Wisconsin.
The program operates differently for HMO members and Freedom of Choice members. To learn how this network affects your plan, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-279-1301.

Out-of-area urgent or emergency services do not require prior authorization. However, you must call Customer Service as soon as possible after receiving care.
