Make the Most of Your Doctor Visit

Photo of a doctorYou finally found time in your busy schedule to make an appointment for that checkup you’ve been putting off. You want to be sure you get the care and information you need and want while you are there. Follow these tips to be sure you make the most of it:

  • Be prepared. Take time before the visit to think about your health. This will help you be ready for your visit.
  • Write it down. Write down your list of questions, along with the name and amount of any medications you are taking. This way, your doctor will be sure to talk to you about them.
  • Don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor. It is common to be nervous during a doctor visit. This may stop you from telling your doctor how you feel or asking questions. Remember: your doctor is here to help you and can help you best if you talk openly.
  • Follow up after the visit. Follow through with the tips your doctor gives you to feel better faster.
