Answers

  1. False. LabCorp is the only contracting provider of laboratory services covered under your HMO. You pay for services rendered by any other laboratory, even if your physician sends you there. Call 1-888-LABCORP (1-888-522-2677) and enter your zip code to hear a listing of locations nearest you.

  2. True. Flu and pneumonia shots are covered benefits with no referrals needed and no copayments. You should get a flu shot annually. The Centers for Disease Control announced that flu vaccinations will start in mid-November this year because of a delay in vaccine production. Regarding the pneumonia vaccine, one shot usually lasts a lifetime.

  3. True. Show your Medicare & More ID card at the Medicare & More® contracting pharmacy check out, and you may purchase your prescription at the plan’s negotiated cost. In addition, you could request that your doctor prescribe a generic equivalent.

  4. False. Women may visit an in-network gynecologist for a well woman exam once a year without a referral. A well woman exam includes a Pap smear, pelvic exam, breast exam and mammogram. You also may visit a contracting Health Options dermatologist up to five times a year without a referral. And as long as chiropractors and podiatrists are members of the Health Options® network, members may see these specialists without referrals.
